IS THERE ANY PAPERWORK INVOLVED IN THE CONSIGNMENT PROCESS?

Every consignor makes an appointment to bring in their items and is asked to fill out a short consignment contract in order to open an account with us. We need basic information like your address, phone number, etc. so we know where to send the checks!  You will also fill out whether or not you want to donate your items at the end of your consignment term or if you will be picking them up.

HOW LONG DO MY ITEMS STAY IN THE STORE?

Generally, items are kept in our store and for sale for 60 days.  After 30 days, we do have a 25% markdown on consignment items which then stay with us for another 30 days.  There are some exceptions in which we would keep items for longer than 60 days, but this is gone over personally with the consignor.

WHO OWNS THE ITEMS ONCE THEY'RE IN THE STORE?

Your items belong to you until they are sold or donated (after their 60 day consignment term)! We are happy to return any piece that hasn't sold as long as you give us 24 hours notice. (We also sell items here, in our online store as well as at our storefront location at 1012 Main St. in Hays, KS).

HOW ARE ITEMS PRICED?

We strive to give our clients gorgeous, and stylish brand name items at a discounted price.  We also value our consignors and want every sale to be a win-win for everyone involved.  Gently used items are priced at approx. 50-70% of the MSRP depending on the current style, condition, brand, etc. of the item.  Love Me items (secondhand items that come to us with tags still attached) usually hold a higher value than Love Me Again items.  Merchandise is reduced after 30 days by 25%.

HOW MUCH WILL I MAKE?

With consignment, as soon as your item sells, both you and the store get paid!  Our payment split is gone over during your consignment appointment.

WHEN WILL I GET PAID?

Consignors are paid by check at the beginning of each month for items that were sold the previous month.

WHAT IF MY ITEMS DON'T SELL?

If your items haven’t sold by the end of the consignment period, merchandise can either be returned to you or donated to charity. You will indicate your preference when you fill out a consignment form when first bringing in your items.  While we do donate to charities, we are not authorized to issue tax deductions. If you choose to have your items returned to you, GypsyRose will notify you a phone call and ask you pick them up within the week.  Some exception may apply (if you live out of town).


CAN I STILL BE A CONSIGNOR IF I DON’T LIVE IN OR NEAR HAYS?

Yes!  We love our consignors and work with those who live in the Hays area and those who enjoy stopping by as they travel!  While we do have out of state consignors, we do require them to still come in for at least their first consignment appointment to go over their items and to fill out our contract.
